In doing this, people get to know you on more of a personal level, which can result in increased business.

When Social Following is properly managed, visitors to your site(s) feel more inclined to use you when seeking out someone to solve whatever problem they are trying to solve. This is because you provided them an easy way to get to know you as a real human vs. Bob, the VP for Administrative Affairs in Diplomatic Affairs (ok, maybe the title is a little extreme).
